Welcome to Laser squad.

This is my remake of the spectrum clasic written by Julian Gollop. Julian Gollop has very kindly consented to me releasing this Java version of his origional programs. If you want to find out what Julian Gollop is up to these days, have a look at www.lasersquadnemesis.com

To run the game, simply click on the LaserSquad.html file to run Laser Squad in your browser (it needs to be Java enabled at least version 1.4). Alternatively if you have java installed you can simply double-click the LaserSquad.jar file to run the game as a stand-alone program. If this fails the command "java -jar LaserSquad.jar" ought to run it.

LaserSquadManual.html is the manual and should explain prety much everything you need to know about playing the game.

The Return to Moonbase scenario is one I found on the net written by Johan von Nameh (see the 'Return To Moonbase.txt' file) and have converted to run on my version of Laser Squad. You can safely ignore the multiplayer warning as I've ensured you can only play it as two player.

If you right-click (in Windows, or use whatever you do on your system to get up an options popup menu) you have several options. Briefing gives you the scenario briefing. The rest are self explanatory.

This java version is no longer supported (not least because I can't compile the origional source code in a modern compiler). The javascript version is, but doesn'twork off-line.

Many thanks to Steve Godrich who spotted bugs with spotting enemy units, with hiding items and, with exploding items, all of which I've now been able to fix.
Thanks to Jukka Paatero who spotted yet more bugs with explosions that I've also been able to fix.
Thanks to Craig Turner who spotted a bug in the sound system that with his information I've fixed.

The home site where I will publish any updates and further bits and pieces (like the scenario editor) is http://lasersquad.org.uk
